What are probiotics?
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that are able to colonize the intestinal tract and help promote healthy digestive function; Lactobacillus acidophilus is an example of a well known probiotic.
What is a CFU and why do I need so many?
CFU stands for Colony Forming Unit. It's the unit qualifying the level of probiotic bacteria and indicates a product's viability or strength.
Is a probiotic deficiency common?
Quite common! Many lifestyle factors favor undesirable microorganisms over probiotics in your intestinal tract: stress, poor diet (sugar and fat), alcohol, prescription drugs, travel, frequent colds or infections, and aging are the big ones. It's hard for a modern person not to have a probiotic deficiency to some degree.
What are the symptoms of a probiotic deficiency?
They vary from person to person but may include one or more of the following: Constipation or diarrhea, indigestion, incomplete digestion, heartburn, excess gas and bloating, lactose intolerance, weak immune response (frequent colds and infections) and food allergies.
What is a prebiotic?
Non-digestible food ingredients that have a beneficial effect through their selective metabolism in the intestinal tract, which helps good bacteria grow and flourish.
Is it best to take AccuFlora® caplets with food or on an empty stomach?
Either way works well. Take AccuFlora® caplets with water, fruit juice or milk.
Can I take AccuFlora® caplets when taking antibiotics?
Do I need to refrigerate AccuFlora® caplets?
I am pregnant. Is it safe for me to take probiotics?
During pregnancy, women often have digestive problems. Taking probiotics regularly may help your digestive system. Please seek the advice of a qualified health care professional before using.
Should mature adults take probiotic products?
As we age, our intestinal microflora gradually changes and our immune system may decline. Probiotics may help maintain a healthy level of good gut microflora.
Can I break up the AccuFlora® caplets and add it to foods?
No. AccuFlora® caplets, with the patent pending Controlled Delivery Technology, should be swallowed whole.
Can I take more than 2 caplets per day?
Can I give AccuFlora® caplets to my children?
